Where Have I Been???

Good question. I think the answer to that is "out of it". First, cause I'm exhausted. Second, because my computer has been sitting on the kitchen counter because we haven't bought a desk yet for our office. So, I tend to prefer doing this blog thing and all other computer things when I'm comfortable...which is NOT standing up next to the counter! So, despite my discomfort...I thought I would check-in. Hopefully, we will have a desk soon and I can start wasting my life away becoming increasingly addicted to my computer, again. It's funny cause I have actually gotten A LOT more done since I haven't been tempted by this computer. I can actually walk past it now without feeling a urge to "quickly" sit down and check my email, read the news, and see what's new on the blogs and J Crew. It's weird.

So, I decided this post will be about charts. Are you a chart mom??? I totally am. I make my kids charts for everything under the sun...chores, potty training, being nice, staying on their beds, etc. I think they work great...as long as you stick to them and make the reward really cool. Currently, my boys are actively engaged in a Pirate chart. It has a Pirate that moves through the squares (via velcro) and eventually makes it to the Treasure Box (which is good for 10 dollars). It is up to the kids how fast they earn their money. They do jobs and random things to move spaces. If they vacuum that might be 4 spaces, if they read a book or watch a learning show then that's 1 or 2 spaces, if they are caught being good...maybe 1 space. I just make them up the amount of spaces they get based on the difficulty of importance of the task.
If you want me to email you this chart, I would be happy to try! Anyway, so my kids have a serious problem with getting off their beds a hundred times a night. So, hmmm....maybe I need another chart. My kids LOVE to go to Chuck E. Cheese. But, I don't. It's too far away...although, I must say that they have some surprisingly tasty pizza. So, I decided I would make a chart where if they stayed on their bed for a certain number of days we would go to Chuck E. Cheese. I went to their web site to steal some clip-art for the chart and guess what??? They already have charts on there for that very thing....and others as well. So, if your kids like Chuck E. Cheese and think it would be a cool reward then....check out their web site! If your child completes their chart and brings it in, then they will get 10 free tokens! Go to their web site... http://www.chuckecheese.com/ then click on 'promotions', then 'reward calendars'. Anyway, probably a boring post. Sorry. But, as a devout chart-mom...pre-made charts for Chuck E. Cheese are exciting to me.

Okay, Okay...

Here ya go. Here is the reason I have been a bad mom, bad wife and bad friend for the past year....also a bad picture taker.... (I can't seem to get clear pictures indoors with my new camera and haven't had time to figure it out yet.) There is still a number of unfinished things and as you can see...we haven't gotten very far on 'moving in'. This snow has been a huge setback! But, this weekend...
It was kinda hard to get a good shot with the trees...
My favorite part...

It's handy to be married to a carpenter...

The kid's favorite part...

Random pictures on my camera...

Audrey
So, that's that. You'll have to come over if you want to see more... see you all soon!

Life in the Slow Lane

Sometimes I wish I could push the fast-forward button on life. Now is one of those times! I am sick of the crazy, hectic, mad-woman life that I live. BUT, it's coming to an end... I passed my final inspection on our home yesterday! It was a nightmare! A 5 hour inspection with the toughest, hard-nosed, county inspector that there is! Not to mention, my baby girl was drinking toilet water from the toilet that the lovely subcontractors had been using, my Shaner-babe peed all over his clothes and had to walk around the new house in the nude! And, they ALL were crying and hanging on my legs because I had not fed them anything in 10 hours...(I couldn't leave...the inspector was there). Ugh...but, we passed. I almost cried. It's been a long time coming! A whole year! I have felt like such a horrible mom this past year! I keep telling myself that I will make it up to them!

Anyway, we are moving this weekend. So....I have no internet for a few more days....so, DON'T FORGET ABOUT ME! I'll be back in a few!
